ABOUT
Anthony Johnson is a composer for film, animation, and video games, focused on shaping narrative through music with a strong sense of emotional precision. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he studied Film & Media Scoring and Games & Interactive Media Scoring with a minor in Musical Theater Writing, he has scored over 25 projects spanning live-action, documentary, animation, and interactive media. His work has included original music for a staged reading of a screenplay at the Semel Theatre in Boston, reflecting an interest in performance-based work that continues to inform his approach to scoring. His work has earned the Berklee Screen Scoring Departmental Achievement Award and has received recognition for original score at multiple film festivals.
With a background in acting and musical theater, Anthony approaches composition with a sensitivity to performance, focusing on how music responds to pacing, character, and subtle emotional movement within a scene—often informed by the nuances of an actor’s work, from shifts in expression to the smallest changes in tone. His writing emphasizes atmosphere and restraint, blending orchestral and contemporary elements to support a project’s tone in a way that feels integrated rather than imposed. He collaborates closely with filmmakers and game developers to translate creative ideas into a cohesive sonic identity.
During his time at Berklee, Anthony underwent two high-risk neurosurgeries at Tufts Medical Center for an acoustic neuroma that threatened his hearing. The experience fundamentally reshaped his relationship to sound and continues to inform his work, bringing a heightened sense of intention and detail to the way he creates and listens.
